Denmark at 1:300,000 on a road map from Marco Polo Travel Publishing with special features to aid route planning, a street plan of central Copenhagen, plus an inset showing access to the adjoining areas of Sweden: the bridge to Malmö and the ferry connections to Helsingborg and Landskrona.
A fold-out extension of the map cover gives at-a-glance overview of the whole area covered by the map with the adjoining regions, highlighting main places of interest and making it much easier to find various localities on the main map and/or plan a route. A set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers, removable without damaging the map, is provided to make routes or locations more prominent when navigating.
Cartography is from the renowned German publishers Mairs Dumont. Road network includes minor local roads and selected unsurfaced tracks, indicates motorway services, truck shops, toll stations, traffic or seasonal restrictions, etc, and gives driving distances on main and most secondary routes. Scenic roads, special tourist routes and viewpoints are highlighted. Railway lines, ferry routes and local airports are included.

Symbols mark various facilities and places of interest including campsites, youth hostels and other tourist accommodation, picturesque towns, etc. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 5’ intervals. Dolomites UNESCO Map
Ordinær pris 149,00 krThe Dolomites at 1:150,000 on a road map from Tabacco with excellent presentation of the topography derived from the publishers’ highly regarded and popular hiking maps, plus on the reverse notes about the region’s protected areas. Coverage extends from the Austrian border to just past Trento and Feltre, and west/east from the Ortles Massif to well east of Belluno.
The map provides a very clear picture of the region’s landscape through graphic relief for its exposed rocky areas, plus relief shading and contours at 100m intervals, and has plenty of names of individual groups, peaks, valleys, etc. Additional colouring indicates woodlands, and boundaries of the nine areas designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites are prominently marked. Minor roads are drawn without generalizing their course, showing the twists and turns across the mountainous terrain. Driving distances are marked on main and many connecting routes. Railway lines are shown with stations and mountain transport lines (cable car lines, chair lifts, etc) are included. The map is designed to present the topography of the region rather than its tourist sights, but it does indicate campsites. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 10’ and 20’ respectively. Where appropriate, both Italian and German place names are given. Map legend includes English.
On the reverse are trilingual notes (including English), illustrated with numerous colour photos and maps about the region.

The cover notes the Republic of Ireland, which is the focus of attention, but most of Northern Ireland (Belfast area excluded) shows as well. Regardless, one side of the sheet is a detailed map of Dublin, the capital of the Republic and a very popular travel destination.
The coverage goes far beyond the norm, extending from the River Tolka in the north to south of the Grand Canal, and from Phoenix Park in the west as far east as the Dublin Bay. The River Liffey, of course, flows across the centre of the page. Dublin has two rapid-transit tram lines, both of which are prominently shown, as is the city centre, all parks, as many hotels as we could find, shopping areas and restaurants, theatres and educational institutions, embassies, the ferry terminal, and much more.
The Top Attractions are also noted. The other side of the sheet presents a very detailed travel map of the Republic, showing all motorways, highways, and secondary routes, as well as rail lines. Touristic attractions, such as Blarney Castle and the Rock of Cashel are highlighted. This would be an excellent map for those touring the Republic by road.

Eastern Europe used to be defined as everything behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War, but now it encompasses everything east of Germany and Switzerland, which means that this map covers Italy, Greece and the Balkan countries, the Central European countries of Romania and Hungary and most of Ukraine, Poland and the three Baltic states, and western Russia as far east as Volgograd, as well as much of Turkey. It is a combined road and rail map, showing motorways and major highways, fast-train routes in red and regular services in black. It also shows major cruise line routes, although many have been suspended due to Covid and political situations in Russia and Turkey.
Essentially, this is a map covering a very large area, as are our maps of Western and Central Europe, and our earlier map of Scandinavia. We have tried to make it politically correct, which is difficult considering the Russian occupation of Crimea and the Donetsk region of Ukraine and the on-going controversy over the ‘proper’ name for Macedonia, so we apologize for any errors. For simplicity’s sake, we have named most place names in English, so Roma is Rome and Moscva is Moscow etc. Fortunately, most English place names are the same in the local languages. However, being ITMB, Naples is Napoli, and Florence is Firenze, so don’t be too critical of us; we’re trying to reconcile differing perspectives.

The capital, Helsinki, and the western port city of Tartu are shown, as well as ferry routes connecting the country to port cities along the Baltic Sea. This is a country of lakes, which are clearly shown, as are the rail routes joining communities and the highly-developed road network. Side 2 concentrates on the more northerly portions, all the way to Lapland in the far north. Border crossings to Russia are shown, but they are closed due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
