Mongolia
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe country of Mongolia has existed for centuries, but until recent times was dominated by Russia. When we were first asked to prepare a tourism-oriented map of Mongolia by the government, we did our best using then-available sources of data. With each new edition, we have improved the amount of information and the accuracy of spelling of place names as the country has developed. For example, it is now generally accepted that the name of the country’s capital is Ulaanbaatar as one word.
Roads in Mongolia tend to vary dramatically, so most of the thin red lines should be regarded as guidelines rather than as formal man-made roads. The Gobi Desert is well-shown, as are cities little-known to outsiders.
A detailed inset map of Ulaanbaatar is included.
Legend Includes: Highway, Other Roads, Motorway, Railway, Urban area, Border crossing, Airport, Point of interest, Monument, Museum, Mine, Ruin, Gas station, Lake, Nature Reserve, Camping Site, Sand dunes, Glacier, etc.

Fra ITM: Pakistan was created out of the dismemberment of British India as a sanctuary for Muslims displaced by sectional fighting in the immediate post-WW2 era. Relations between India and Pakistan have been testy ever since, although the passage of time has made both countries aware that they need each other. That said, Pakistan is a lovely country to visit and explore. Side 1 concentrates on the southern portion of the country and includes an inset of the main city, Karachi. The south also shares long border areas with Iran, Afghanistan, and India, small portions of which are included. We have updated the road network to show recently completed motorway-like roads. The northern portion fills Side 2, continuing the long border with Afghanistan and the ill-defined borders with China and India. There is much to see in this part of Pakistan, such as the city of Quetta in the west, Islamabad, the capital, ancient Lahore, and the Hunza Valley, all of which are noted in our Top Attractions list. The north is truly adventuresome travel, and it is possible to drive the fabulous Karakoram Highway towards China, one of the most amazing road trips anywhere. However, although the contested Kashmir region is shown on the map (because it’s there), visitors need to be aware that this is a volatile part of the world and should avoid it. This is a country that is much less visited than it should be.

Philippines: Manila & Luzon Island
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe Philippines has bounced back from the Covid era remarkably quickly. Manila, the capital, has always been under-rated as a touristic destination, but it is the principal access point to the country and has a lot to offer visitors. It is, of course, a huge city, with hotels concentrated south of the Pasig River, adjacent to the historic Intramuros, a former fortress.
The new part of this map is the first-ever travel map of Luzon Island, the principal island of this country of islands., combined with surrounding islands. Americans are particularly drawn to the Bataan Peninsula and the small island of Corregidor as a result of WW2. Tourists are drawn to the beautiful beaches of Palawan and Boracay or to Mayon Volcano, or the rice terraces on Banaue. This is a far more detailed map, due to its scale, than one covering the entire island nation.

Fra ITM: Singapore is Asia as it should be: clean, modern, well-governed, efficient, and attractive. In this edition, which technically should be a first edition due to the transformation of the map into a double-sided one, includes for the first time, our detailed map of the part of Malaysia known as the Malay Peninsula, the ‘mainland’ portion of the country. Singapore and Malaysia are joined together by two motorway crossings and a train operated by Malaysian Railways. Side one of our map concentrates on the urbanized portion of Singapore and its attractions, with a large and detailed inset map of the country of Singapore. Side two covers all of the mainland portion of Malaysia to the Thai border and includes a large inset map of Kuala Lumpur. Motorways are common in Malaysia, and are portrayed on the map, as well as the older two-lane highway network. The map is not printed on paper, but on crushed stone mixed with recycled concrete. This is a relatively new technology, which is waterproof as well as durable and tear resistant. Stone paper is biodegradable, so is environmentally more friendly than plastic. ITMB is the only major map publishing house to use friendly ‘paper’.
