The coastal areas of the Mediterranean were probably first settled by Phoenicians, then Greeks, then Romans, and then Arabs before being brought into a united Spain at the time Columbus was seeking a sponsor to fund his proposed journey to discover new lands to the west. This map focuses on the coast from the French border south through Catalunya all the way to the Straits of Gibraltar and Cadiz. All road and rail lines are shown, including the new Cadiz to Madrid fast train. The map is equally applicable to interior trips to Cordoba or Albacete as it is a map of the coast. The map divides the island east/west with a good overlap between the sides and has contours with relief shading, spot heights and plenty of names of geographical features to show the island’s topography. Major roads clearly numbered, with motorway junctions prominently named. Scenic routes are highlighted and locations of petrol stations and services are marked.
A selection of hiking trails is also highlighted, with symbols marking various places of interest, including beaches, campsites and mountain refuges, etc. For GPS users the map has a UTM grid and margin ticks at 2’ showing latitude and longitude. Map legend includes English. Place names are in clear print, larger than used on most maps.
A separate booklet attached to the map cover has an index which shows all locations with their postcodes and GPS coordinates. The booklet also includes multilingual descriptions of the island’s main sights and street plan of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Christianos, Playa de las Américas and Puerto de la Cruz.

Oslos peneste kart? Ja det mener vi. I flere år har Dapa Maps sett på dette kartet og tenkt at de må gjøre med det. Vinteren 2023/2024 har de gjort en digital restaurering av kartet og kan nå vise det frem for allmenheten.
Kartet er opprinnelig tegnet av Byens Oppmaalingsvesen (forløper til Plan- og bygningsetaten) i 1921. Kartet ble da tegnet på 6 ulike kartblad som finnes arkivert hos Byarkivet.
Det Dapa Maps har gjort er å sette kartet sammen til et kart og redigert bort rutenettet slik at lesbarheten blir bedre. De har ikke endret noe på fargene eller på noen andre detaljer.
