Caucasus: Georgia & Armenia
Ordinær pris 199,00 krTwo of the most interesting countries to emerge from the collapse of the dreaded Soviet Union were Georgia and Armenia. Both are still fragile economies tied closely to modern-day Russia, but are both very proud independent countries. Georgia occupies one side of the map sheet, with a detailed inset map of Tbilisi, the capital. The country shares a long border with Russia and borders on Turkey to the south. Batum (Batu) is the main port, with ferry services across the Black Sea to Trabzon, Istanbul, and Novorossijsk. For visitors, the main attraction must be the country’s many picturesque churches, but fortresses would enjoy second place. We have tried to mark roads by quality as well as importance.
The other side of the map sheet concentrates on Armenia and its capital of Yerevan - (City Centre Map included). This country is the location of Mount Aragat, an extinct volcano that is the highest point of land in Transcaucasia. Armenia is an ancient Christian country and its monasteries are well-worth visiting. The one in Geghard dates from 1215 and is a World Heritage site. Lake Sevan is the largest body of water in the Caucasus region. The country borders Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan and small parts of those countries show on the map.
Vietnam
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis map is the most detailed map of the country in print. Being developed in Vietnam, it is accurate, up to date, and informative. Vietnam is changing rapidly as it modernizes, with roads being upgraded on a regular basis and cities changing road patterns to accommodate the needs of growing populations. In our most recent visit, to Hanoi, the airport had a new terminal, there was a new bridge over the Hong Song (Red River), and a new motorway into the city was open. Scale 1:920.000.
Japan: Tokyo (Kanto & Chubu Regions)
Ordinær pris 199,00 krTokyo is one of the most populous cities in the world, so it is very difficult to capture all of it on one map sheet. The areas of touristic interest tend to exist in a relatively small portion of the metropolis, essentially from the Shibuya and Shinjuku shopping areas in the west to the Asakusa temple complex in the east. All the subway lines are shown, as well as stations. The rail lines passing through the city are numerous, but well-portrayed, including the monorail going to Haneda Airport and the main Shinkensen Terminal. The imperial palace is prominently shown, although not open for tourists. Tokyo tends to be a bit overwhelming, so having a good map is essential.
This map includes an inset of the Narita International Airport and train routes into Tokyo, as well as a large inset showing the spaghetti-like network of subway/rail lines serving Tokyo. The reverse side of the sheet is essentially a detailed map of central Japan as far west as Nagoya and north to Yamagata, offering visitors to Tokyo with a wealth of day trips to interesting cities and nearby islands without needing a separate map. The Top Attractions list notes such treasures as Odawara Castle, or the shrine complex at Nikko. Mount Fuji is of course included, as is the spot where Westerners first arrived (near Shimoda). A fascinating map!
Japan: Central
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis is a brand new title for ITMB, a double-sided map covering the 'core' regions of Japan most visited by tourists exploring Japan. Side 1 covers from Tokyo north to Sendai/Nigata and west to Nagoya. Side two covers all of Japan as far as Hiroshima, with insets of the Osaka/Kobe and Kyoto/Nara regions. Naturally, all touristic attractions are noted.
Mongolia
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe country of Mongolia has existed for centuries, but until recent times was dominated by Russia. When we were first asked to prepare a tourism-oriented map of Mongolia by the government, we did our best using then-available sources of data. With each new edition, we have improved the amount of information and the accuracy of spelling of place names as the country has developed. For example, it is now generally accepted that the name of the country’s capital is Ulaanbaatar as one word.
Roads in Mongolia tend to vary dramatically, so most of the thin red lines should be regarded as guidelines rather than as formal man-made roads. The Gobi Desert is well-shown, as are cities little-known to outsiders.
A detailed inset map of Ulaanbaatar is included.
Legend Includes: Highway, Other Roads, Motorway, Railway, Urban area, Border crossing, Airport, Point of interest, Monument, Museum, Mine, Ruin, Gas station, Lake, Nature Reserve, Camping Site, Sand dunes, Glacier, etc.
Nepal
Ordinær pris 199,00 krNow it is time to re-introduce the world to one of the most fascinating countries on Planet Earth. Side 1 covers western Nepal around Pokhara and has a detailed inset map of the Mount Everest area in an expanded scale. Side 2 covers the portion of the country from just west of the Annapurna Glacial region eastwards through Kathmandu to the eastern border. A very detailed inset map of Kathmandu is included, as one of the Kathmandu Valley that surrounds the city. Basic road access from India is shown. It is not possible to enter from China.
The map is printed on durable stone paper and is as up to date as we could make information under very trying circumstances. We still hope to visit next year. Nepal is a treasure!
Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe Indochinese Peninsula is one of the world's treasure troves of cultural diversity and historical activity. In the north are the hill tribes of Laos and Vietnam. Along the coast are the Viet people, and in the south the huge cultural area of Khmer influence - from Angkor Wat to the Cham ruins in the southeast of Vietnam. The Plain of Jars, in Laos remains one of the most intriguing puzzles of the modern world, and the temples of Louang Phabang are reknowned.
This map shows all of these wonders and many more. This is a very detailed map, prepared in the region, and showing just about anything a vistor would want in a map.
Caucasus
Ordinær pris 199,00 kr2nd edition Indexed, double-sided map of the Caucasus region from ITMB with small plans of Yerevan, Baku and Tbilisi, printed on durable waterproof paper. Relief is depicted by altitude tinting, with spot heights for selected peaks. Swamp areas, national parks and reserves are marked, and bathymetric tinting is applied to the sea areas. Georgia scale is 1:430.000 and Azerbaijan/Georgia in 1:650.000.
Sri Lanka & India South
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis edition is a considerable improvement on our previous one, benefitting from the extensive research trip we took to the emerald-shaped island shortly before the outbreak of Covid changed the world. We have re-introduced it as a map printed on waterproof paper, as such a format holds up well in a hot, humid climate. We visited all parts of the island and were quite impressed by the number of local hotels and resorts that we found and have added to the map. We were particularly gratified to discover progress on extending the motorway system for the country, much of it now probably delayed due to Covid.
The inset map of Colombo is particularly well-done. The second side of the sheet is a very detailed map of the southern third of India, from Nagpur to the southern tip of the country. Space constraints did not allow for inset maps, but several well-known cities are included – Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pondicherry, Madurai, and Bengaluru (Bangalore) among them. India is a fascinating, if somewhat intimidating, place to visit, but is well-worth the time to do so.
Vietnam: Hanoi & Vietnam North
Ordinær pris 199,00 krDouble-sided map of Hanoi in Scale 1:14.000 and Vietnam North in 1:925.000. Insert map of Hanoi's outlying uran area in 1:500.000. Vietnam is covered from Sekong/Quang Nam and north. Insert map of Hue region, Hue City in 1:16.500 and Vietnam in 1:9 mio.
Vietnam: South & Ho Chi Minh City
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis map updates a fast-changing city to reflect its changing features. With this edition, we have doubled-up the map by adding a map of the Mekong Delta to the reverse side. The 'Nine Mouths of the Dragon' southernmost portion of VN, of which HCM City is a part, is a fascinating part of Asian life, where fervent religious temples originating with the Cham culture of Cambodia co-exist with the Cao Dai amalgam religious movement.

Fra ITM: Lebanon has had a rather troubled political history over the past fifty years, but is a lovely country to visit. Tripoli, for example, is fascinating to explore The Crusader citadel (circa 1100AD) can be toured, and the Great Mosque is well worth a visit. Baalbek used to be known as Heliopolis, two thousand years ago, when it was the most important Greek, then Roman, city in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is still the most complete Roman city in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Byblos has been occupied for 7,000 years. The Cedars of God are over 1,500 years old. Tyre dates back to 3,000BC. Sidon is a former Silk Road trading post. Beirut is one of the oldest cities in the world. This is why people want to visit Lebanon. Our map shows the country on one side, with ample text blocks to entice the reader, and Beirut on the other side. Truly an amazing country!

Fra ITM: Armenia and Azerbaijan at 1:430,000 on a double-sided, indexed map from ITMB, with each country accompanied by a street plan of its capital. Diverse ethnography of the region is indicated on an inset.
On one side is Armenia with most of Nagorno-Karabakh, plus the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and much of Georgia including Tbilisi. The reverse, with a small overlap, is the remainder of Azerbaijan. Topography of the region is shown by altitude colouring in feet, with heights of peaks given in metres (and not in feet as indicated in the map legend). Mountain passes are annotated with months when passable. Swamp areas are marked and national parks or protected areas highlighted. The map shows the region’s road and rail networks, including selected seasonal tracks, and indicates local airports. Symbols highlight various places of interest: historical sites, beaches, winter sport areas, etc. All place names are in the Latin alphabet only. Street plans of central Yerevan and Baku name main streets and highlight various places of interest including selected foreign embassies. Also provided is an inset showing the distribution of various ethnographic groups.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: international and provincial boundaries are not marked precisely enough to give a clear picture of the current political situation in the region, including enclaves and border crossings.

Everest & Himalaya
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe climbing season for Everest begins in May, just about the time that vaccinations against Covid should kick into high gear. Time to start planning that little jaunt you’ve always wanted to do! Seriously, this is a lovely double-sided map with two attractive covers, so can be displayed either as Everest or Himalaya. The Everest side covers the mountain itself, with base camps and accommodations clearly shown. There are actually several interesting trails one could explore and all are shown; only one leads to the summit. The reverse side shows the entire Himalaya ‘knot’ that forms the basis for so many mountain chains.
The area of coverage includes all of Nepal and Sikkim, a significant portion of Bhutan, most of Tibet, and a bit of northern India. All roads and attractions are shown. The map includes a detailed inset map for Kathmandu and another for the valley region surrounding the city. There are now half a dozen access roads into Nepal, and all are shown. East-west travel is finally available with the completion of Hwy 1401. Legend Includes: Roads by classification, Rivers and Lakes, National Park, Airports, Points of Interests, Highways, Main Roads, Zoos, Fishing, and much more...

Fra ITM: Just at the moment, the entire Middle East region is politically unstable, but Jordan remains steady and attractive for tourism. Syria is a very interesting country, and well-worth visiting. This map shows each country on opposite sides of the sheet, with a double-sided cover showing two of the most important touristic attractions in each country. The Jordan side includes a detailed map of Amman, the capital and a list of top attractions. By the shape of the country, Israel is also shown, as well as southern Lebanon and Syria. The second side provides a detailed map of Syria, which is mostly desert-like. The map includes an excellent map of Damascus. Most of the touristic attractions are close to the Lebanese border.

Fra ITM: The Sultanate of Dubai is evolving into a popular tourist destination for week-long days. The city itself is fairly new, with lots of exciting architecture, including the man-made resort islands of Deira and Palm Jumeirah. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and the Dubai Mall is the world's largest, with more than 80 million visitors annually. The gold souk is a fascinating traditional market. Truly, the city is making extraordinary efforts to attract visitors from around the world. Equally interesting are the surrounding countries of the United Arab Emirates and Oman, all of which are tourist-friendly. International airports are located close to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Muscat. Excellent modern roads connect the entire region and border crossings are relatively routine. This map shows an attractive and interesting part of the world, including such marvels as the Hajar Mountains and Al Ain, one of the world's oldest inhabited cities.

4th edition January 2015. Beijing in scale 1:23.000 The other side of the map is just as interesting. It covers the portion of the Great Wall of China that all visitors see, near Badaling (scale 1:280.000), and also shows those sections that have disappeared over time, or have fallen into disrepair. As well, the famous Ming tombs of former emperors is also shown, as well as the Marco Polo bridge on the western edge of Beijing, so-named in honour of the famous trader/explorer who set out from this point on his return trip to Europe. This time, we have printed our Beijing/great Wall map in durable ITM plastic; printed double-sided.

Taiwan & Taipei
Ordinær pris 199,00 krTaiwan always reminds me of the “little engine that could”. Despite having to endure an extremely hostile neighbour, the country has prospered, is democratic, and is friendly and welcoming to visitors, despite the fact that most governments do not officially recognize its existence. Side 1 shows the capital city of Taipei, a bustling economic powerhouse on the Damshui River, close to the ocean. The city has numerous hotels and shopping areas, and a well-developed subway network.
The second side covers the complete island of Formosa from top to bottom in excellent detail, as well as the off-shore Penghu islands (these can be reached by ferries from Kaohsung or Dongshih). Most of the country’s development is on the western, or Taiwan Straits, side of the mountainous country, but to me the Taroka Gorge, leading inland from Hualien on the east coast, is one of the wonders of modern Asia. An inset map of Tainan in southeast Taiwan is also included.
China: South & Guangzhou
Ordinær pris 149,00 kr Salgspris 119,00 kr Spar 20%China, as a country, is very popular with travellers. However, China is also a very large geographical entity and showing the entire country on one map results in a scale that reduces the amount of information that can be shown. The most visited part of the country is the south, with rapid train access from Hong Kong and major airports at Guangzhou and Shanghai. Travel to China is also increasing as more international airports are opened.
The regional map covers one side of this double-sided map; the other contains an updated map of Guangzhou (formerly Canton). Lan and I visited this city in February and were surprised at how open and modern the city is. In comparison with Beijing, the political overtones are much reduced, and Sun Yat Sen is the hero. The city is also a major train hub, with two major stations handling traffic, and six bus stations arranging transportation to nearby cities.
South Korea & Seoul
Ordinær pris 199,00 krRoad map South Korea and city plan Seoul.
This edition covers from close to the international airport to well east of the city centre, and there is a regional inset map on the same side providing details of the immediate surrounding area. The other side shows the entire country, with its extensive road and rail network shown clearly. The country has a very efficient network of fast trains, making reaching any corner of the country a matter of only a few hours.
