Europe Railway & Road
Ordinær pris 199,00 krOur Europe Rail Map has proven to be a best-seller, so obviously meets a market demand. This most recent edition updates recent completions of the new fast train network that is gradually transforming transportation of passengers in Europe. Much of this will consist of extensions to lines already in place. We have included the east-west link through London, which is still under construction, but not the future line to Birmingham. In France, the western portion of the line to Caen is open, but not the link to Paris. The Spanish system is mostly in place and Italy is now completed as far south as Salerno. Connecting links between countries is, however, mostly a future hope. The regular rail system is shown in black, and is quite extensive.
For the sake of convenience, the motorway and main road networks of Europe are included, but the strength of this map is its emphasis upon train travel. As an additional feature of this map, we have added a side panel that shows each country s flag, shows where it fits into Europe, what its car decal designation is, its capital, its area, and its population.

Caucasus: Georgia & Armenia
Ordinær pris 199,00 krTwo of the most interesting countries to emerge from the collapse of the dreaded Soviet Union were Georgia and Armenia. Both are still fragile economies tied closely to modern-day Russia, but are both very proud independent countries. Georgia occupies one side of the map sheet, with a detailed inset map of Tbilisi, the capital. The country shares a long border with Russia and borders on Turkey to the south. Batum (Batu) is the main port, with ferry services across the Black Sea to Trabzon, Istanbul, and Novorossijsk. For visitors, the main attraction must be the country’s many picturesque churches, but fortresses would enjoy second place. We have tried to mark roads by quality as well as importance.
The other side of the map sheet concentrates on Armenia and its capital of Yerevan This country is the location of Mount Aragat, an extinct volcano that is the highest point of land in Transcaucasia. Armenia is an ancient Christian country and its monasteries are well-worth visiting. The one in Geghard dates from 1215 and is a World Heritage site. Lake Sevan is the largest body of water in the Caucasus region. The country borders Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan and small parts of those countries show on the map.

Europe Western: Railroad & Road
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis is a new title for ITMB. It focusses on the western half of the European land mass at a much better scale than would be possible for all of Europe. Even at this scale, showing the rail lines and the major roads results in a map with a lot of information on it, but it meets the needs of those travelling around Europe by rail, which is its primary market. It can also be used by those driving, although it would be better for vehicle users to rely on individual country maps.
Side 1 covers the British Isles, the Low Countries, Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, most of Poland, and southern Scandinavia. The second side covers the Iberian Peninsula, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Austria, Hungary, and the southern portion of Germany. Trains tend to be used by travellers in Europe for longer trips, say from Frankfurt to Rome, and for this reason our new map should find a good market. There has not been enough room on this map to show many touristically important sites, but where room exists, we have added UNESCO World Heritage sites, major churches, and most international airports.
Coverage includes major ferry routes and includes the islands of Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Sardinia, Elba, and Corsica, Sicily, and Malta. As the EU evolves, passenger rail service is increasingly becoming a pan-European reality, but German trains running on French lines and Italian trains going north into Austria. This is a timely map; coming out at the beginning of a truly European rail system.

Greenland & North Pole
Ordinær pris 179,00 krGreenland is indeed a fascinating place to visit. Granted, much of it consists of inaccessible Icefields that, if they melted, would detrimentally raise ocean levels to catastrophic levels. The coastal regions are, however, inhabited, and it is possible to fly in or take an adventuresome cruise with Linblad and visit the giant island. Three-quarters of Greenland lies above the Arctic Circle and ice bergs carved out of the many slowly-moving rivers of ice are commonplace in the North Atlantic. Due to sea ice, the notable attractions of the island tend to be concentrated in the southern third.
The original settlers are not the Norse, but Inuit peoples who migrated eastwards from what is now Canada’s northland. Although the area has been a Danish possession for centuries, only the relatively narrow Nares Strait separates it from Canada’s Ellesmere Island, and the famous Thule Air Force base is considerably south of Alert, Nunavut. The second side of the sheet is a separate map of the entire North Polar Region, centred on the true North Pole itself.
The Polar Region consists of everything north of the Arctic Circle, but this map extends the concept southward to the 55th parallel, thereby including all of Scandinavia, including Denmark, as well as all of northern Canada, northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, Alaska, and even Scotland, Estonia, and Latvia. A tiny portion of Ireland and a goodly chunk of Belarus also fall into the range of this map, which is very interesting, and is unique. No other such map exists. It was prepared by the Canada Map Office as a project and is used here with permission. Believe it or not, as a result, this map is copyright by the Queen, as are all government maps produced in Canada. I think that’s a nice touch for an international map! Being a circular projection, the printing is from Canada at the ‘bottom; thus, the place names for Russia and Scandinavia are oriented from the perspective of a wall map. In other words, nomenclature is consistently downwards, not circular, so if the map is rotated, Russian place names would be upside down.
The significance of this map cannot be understated. It is the only one ever prepared as a survey-specific quality of every nation on earth that could consider itself ‘polar’. Its scale prevents undue detail, but we have noted a short series of trivia points of note, such as the difference between true north and the magnetic pole, or the largest urban area in the region (Murmansk), or the location of the most northerly known thermal hot spring (Alaska). The urban area closest to the North Pole is Alert, at the top end of Canada’s Ellesmere Island, at about the 83rd parallel. Both these maps are so interesting that they are easy sells. The cover is double-sided, so can be presented on retail shelves either with Greenland outwards, or North Pole outwards. Either way, it sells. Enjoy!

Caucasus: Georgia & Tbilisi
Ordinær pris 199,00 krGeorgia, the country and not the American state, is a very nice, but threatened country of great historical importance. Bordered on the west by the Black Sea, on the north by Russia, and on the east by Azerbaijan, and with an ill-defined border with Turkey on the west, Georgians must be nimble to retain their independence. Only with neighbouring Armenia does Georgia enjoy relatively good relations. Historically, Georgia is a Christian enclave that dates back to the earliest days of Christianity, and its many churches are major touristic attraction.
This map portrays the country as accurately as is possible, showing the expanding network of motorways, major churches, castles, touristic sites, and regrettably, areas of contention with both Russia and Azerbaijan. The reverse side shows a full-sized city map of Tbilisi, the capital. This is the first time that the city has been portrayed in such detail. Attractions include the Narikala Fortress, the cathedral, the old town centre, and the Dry Bridge Market (now a flea market, but in Soviet times a black market). The city lies beside the Kura River, in a valley enclosed by Mtatsminda Mountain, which has two cable cars to its summit, which is now a recreational theme park. The city’s two metro lines are also a good way to travel around the city.

Vietnam
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis map is the most detailed map of the country in print. Being developed in Vietnam, it is accurate, up to date, and informative. Vietnam is changing rapidly as it modernizes, with roads being upgraded on a regular basis and cities changing road patterns to accommodate the needs of growing populations. In our most recent visit, to Hanoi, the airport had a new terminal, there was a new bridge over the Hong Song (Red River), and a new motorway into the city was open. Scale 1:920.000.

Egypt & Cairo
Ordinær pris 199,00 kr2nd Edition Following the so-called Arab spring of a few years ago, northern Africa experienced much turbulence. Egypt experienced the overthrow of the government, the installation of a radical religious-oriented replacement, and the installation of a radical religious-oriented replacement, and the installation of military governance. Tourism plummeted. Most map publishers discontinued their maps of the country. Five years later, Egypt has stabilized and tourism is growing. We feel that the time is right to re-introduce our ITMB map of Egypt.
This version focuses on the portions of the country that have been re-opened for tourism, which means from the Mediterranean coastline south to the Aswan Dam. The portion further south remains closed for the moment, as is the border crossing with Sudan. We have also unrest, as the border areas with Libya remain very unstable. However, we have provided a large inset map of Egypt, covering everything, in the area of desert. We have also added a listing of Egypt's Top tombs.
The other side of the sheet is a detailed map of Cairo, with an inset of the Giza Pyramid complex just to the west of Cairo, and another inset of the Cairo region showing all the known tombs west of the Nile River south to Helwan. The back cover is a schematic map of the rapid transit system of Cairo. There is a third inset, showing Alexandra and other associated urban areas along the coast. The maps is printed on stone paper, which is waterproof, durable, and long-lasting. It is also biodegradable.

Cyprus
Ordinær pris 199,00 krCyprus is a lovely Mediterranean island; a popular tourist destination for Europeans. It is also a very historic island, with roots going back to Phoenician times and probably before. Politically, the island is divided into Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus and EU-member Cyprus, the southern two-thirds of the island. Most travel is to the southern portion, with numerous resort hotels and beaches lining the coast. This is also the most economically-developed part of the island, as the northern portion has not been recognized by anyone except Turkey, which still maintains a significant military presence in areas they control. It is possible for tourists to pass through the ‘green zone’ in Nicosia from south to north and back safely and efficiently. T
he north portion is, in my opinion, more interesting simply because it is less travelled. When we were visiting the island to research it, we spent most of our time driving mountainous roads, discovering interesting villages (and occasionally, military outposts), but we never felt fearful or were harassed by anyone. To me, the most fascinating part of the island was the very contentious Famagusta city area right on the border that is now an abandoned city covering many blocks of high-rises. We were able to drive through quite a bit of it before being waved off by Turkish soldiers. Regardless of politics, the island is a dream resort for anyone.
We have tried to be fair to both sides of this divided island; a wonderful place to explore or enjoy on a beach – North or South! Legend Includes: Roads by classification, Rivers and Lakes, National Park, Airports, Points of Interests, Highways, Main Roads, Zoos, Fishing, and much more...

Albania
Ordinær pris 199,00 krRoad map of Albania with city maps of Vlorë, Berat, Gjirokastër, Tirana, Korcë, Durrës and Shkodër.
Although still underdeveloped, tourism in Albania is amongst the fastest growing in Europe. With its Greek, Roman and Ottoman architecture and its natural beauty, including Mediterranean beaches and the Albanian Alps, this is not at all surprising. The country had a reputation during the Cold War of being rather secretive and unfriendly, but it is the only formerly-communist-run country to have its totalitarian government hold a referendum on future governing systems (in 1992) and respected the will of the people as expressed and arranged for democratic elections. The country has being improving its infrastructure ever since. The cities of Berat, Durres, Gjirokaster, Korce, Shkoder, Tirane (the capital) and Vlore are included as insets for good measure.
Legend includes: roads by classification, international airports, domestic airports, ports, ruins, historic/archeological, hot springs, forts, lighthouses, national parks, world heritages, mountain peaks, spot heights, universities, oil fields, point of interests, beaches, camping sites, churches, viewpoints, mosques, passes, caves, border crossings, mines, hospitals and much more.

Austria: Rail & Road
Ordinær pris 199,00 krAustria is both an ancient country and a modern country. It was a powerful empire prior to the French Revolution (Marie Antoinette was an Austrian princess prior to her marriage to the king of France), and WW1 was strongly influenced by the Austro-Hungarian empire. The aftermath of that war resulted in Austria becoming much diminished in power, but despite WW2, its borders remain much as they were in 1918. That said, today's Austria is a lovely and safe place to visit. 75 years of peaceful neutrality has restored the country to prosperity and the country is loaded with picturesque villages, lovely mountain scenes, historic castles and palaces, wonderful churches, and museums galore.
This map emphasises the rail network that is the best way to travel around the country, but also shows motorways and ordinary highways, parks, scenic attractions, and connections to surrounding countries.

Greece: Athens & Peloponnese
Ordinær pris 199,00 krAthens is one of the most ancient and historic cities in the world. The Acropolis is the mountain upon which rests the Temple Athena, often called the Parthenon as it dominates the terrain. There are two other ancient temples on the Acropolis as well. Close by is the Agora, the ancient city market centre, and at the foot of the Acropolis are two open-air theatres that date back to ancient times. Athens is also a modern city with congested roads, vibrant stores, and an excellent underground transit system. Included with Side 1 is a map of Piraeus, the nearby port city, with its many terminals for ferries leading to the various Greek islands. It is also one of the most active cruise ship terminals in the world, operating from Terminals A through C. A regional transit map is also included.
Side 2 concentrates on the peninsula (technically an island) west of Athens called the Peloponnese that is the home to Olympus, Sparta, and other former city states of legendary fame, and many of the Greek islands that are relatively close to Athens - Many of The Cyclades for example. By the shape of Greece, Delphi and much of Epirus is included. Altogether, this provides one map covering city and its hinterland for the benefit of the end user.

South Pacific: Cook Islands & East Pacific Cruising
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis is a combination map, focused on two travel realities. Side 1 is a detailed map of the main islands making up the Cook Island archipelago. To provide more detail, the country is an inset map in the lower left corner, with numbers in blue, up to 15. The main map on Side 1 is a series of inset maps providing excellent detail of individual islands, such as Raratonga, Mangaia, or Aitutaki, or island groupings of more northerly groupings that are little more than atolls, such as Penrhyn or Palmerston. The capital is Avarua, and an inset map is included; also one of Arutanga on Aitutaki. The country is well-positioned for tourism, and has many resorts, particularly on Raratonga.
Side 2 is a new map for ITMB, part of our growing Cruising line. This on covers the eastern portion of the South Pacific, from the Marshall Islands, Nauru, and the Solomons on the west to Hawaii and Tahiti on the east, and as far south as New Zealand. Other island nations included on this map are Kiribati, Tuvalu, Fiji, Samoa, and New Caledonia. By the nature of portraying a vast ocean, little detail of each island can be provided. The purpose of this map is to show routes followed by ships visiting the overall region. This is a rapidly-growing travel area for major cruise lines, and promises to be as attractive in the future as cruises in the Caribbean or Mediterranean. This region holds great prospects for the future. Besides, it is a lovely map to look at.

Dublin & Republic of Ireland
Ordinær pris 199,00 krWe are pleased to present our most recent edition of Dublin, combined with a map of Ireland on the reverse side. The cover notes the Republic of Ireland, which is the focus of attention, but most of Northern Ireland (Belfast area excluded) shows as well. Regardless, one side of the sheet is a detailed map of Dublin, the capital of the Republic and a very popular travel destination.
The coverage goes far beyond the norm, extending from the River Tolka in the north to south of the Grand Canal, and from Phoenix Park in the west as far east as the Dublin Bay. The River Liffey, of course, flows across the centre of the page. Dublin has two rapid-transit tram lines, both of which are prominently shown, as is the city centre, all parks, as many hotels as we could find, shopping areas and restaurants, theatres and educational institutions, embassies, the ferry terminal, and much more.
The Top Attractions are also noted. The other side of the sheet presents a very detailed travel map of the Republic, showing all motorways, highways, and secondary routes, as well as rail lines. Touristic attractions, such as Blarney Castle and the Rock of Cashel are highlighted. This would be an excellent map for those touring the Republic by road.
