We are very pleased to be (finally) able to publish the first travel map of the island of Guam. Certainly, this is the only map of Guam by any major cartographic publishing house. Here are some details: Guam is a north-south island considerably north of New Guinea, and forms part of the American-held group of islands known as the Northern Marianas. Its capital is Hagatna, and the main town is called Tamuning. The island has a well-developed international airport in the middle portion of the island, with a large US military airbase in the northeast corner. The vast majority of the island is touristic, and well worth a visit. The island was "discovered" by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521, and Hagatna is the oldest "European" city in the Pacific, dating from 1686. The town of Inarajan retains a decidedly Spanish appearance to this day. Other attractions include Tumon Beach and its many resorts, the Piti Underwater Observatory, and the famous Cocos Island dive wall.

This is a double-sided map, with the Western Pacific Cruising map gracing the second side of the page. This side covers several island entities, and stretches from Australia in the south to Japan in the north and as far to the east as Hawaii and the Cook Islands, so includes such popular cruise destinations as Fiji, Tonga, New Caledonia, the Solomons, Papua, Samoa, Kiribati, and the Marshall Islands. It makes a lovely wall map!

This is another new ITMB title and extends our sectional coverage of the UK northwards from the southernmost border at Gretna Green through the densely-populated Glasgow/Edinburgh/Stirling conurbation to the highlands. The reason for this sectional map is to provide additional space to show 25% more detail than our map of all of Scotland can provide. The north of Scotland is my favourite part of the country, but there isn’t much there except heather and single-lane tracks across treeless moors. The South, like it or not, is where most of Scotland’s four million people live and where most of the castles, palaces, battlefields, parks, and touristic attractions are located.

The map also shows the ferry routes to the outer islands of Arran and Mull, and the most poignant battlefield I’ve ever visited, Culloden, east of Inverness. This was the spot where the clans were slaughtered in 1745, effectively ending the clan system and determining Scotland’s future as a junior partner to England. For history, Scotland is hard to beat, and this map shows the beauty and the majesty of this interesting homeland to excellent advantage. Rail lines have been emphasized.

The portion of Europe east of the Adriatic and west of the Black Sea and south of the Alps has traditionally formed the region known as the Balkan States. This includes the former Yugoslavian states of Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, and Northern Macedonia, as well as Albania, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. Due to its shape, a large portion of Greece, and a bit of Turkey also are included. This is a new area of mapping for us, resulting from numerous visits to the region It is essentially a road map, as the rail network is weak, although rail lines carrying passengers are shown. Nice though the regional map is, its strength lies in the hiking map of the Peaks of the Balkans on the other side.

This detailed map is centred on eastern Montenegro, northern Albania, and western Kosovo. The ten major hiking routes are shown in pink, and there are numerous secondary routes one can explore. This is a growing touristic destination for those seeking a semi-wilderness area for enjoyment, while remaining in Europe, and is becoming quite popular. Accommodations are comprehensively shown, as well as campsites. Contouring is shown, and many peaks are noted. Fjellkart Årefjällen er et detaljert kart som dekker over 3000km2. Her finner du både turstier og fjellstuer i området som er tydelig merket i kartet. Kartet dekker den norske siden av riksgrensen i vest ved Teveldalen og videre inn i Sverige og Storlien til den populære vinterdestinasjonen Åre i øst. Åre skisenter er et perfekt sted for skientusiaster. Årefjällen byr på enkle turer, men også litt tøffere utfordringer. Åreskutan, Mörvikshummeln og Totthummeln er eksempler på flotte fjellturer som er vel verdt et besøk i områdene rundt Åre.

Kartet dekker også Trillevallen, som er et høyfjellsområde hvor du kan oppleve fantastiske skimuligheter og vakre turstier. Enafors og Storlien er fine utgangspunkt for å utforske alt Årefjällen har å by på. Eksempler på fjellstuer i kartet: Storlien, Enafors, Trillevallen, Hållfjället og Edsåsen. Ferslia og Angeltjønnhytta ligger på den norske siden av grensen.

Fra ITM: Lebanon has had a rather troubled political history over the past fifty years, but is a lovely country to visit. Tripoli, for example, is fascinating to explore The Crusader citadel (circa 1100AD) can be toured, and the Great Mosque is well worth a visit. Baalbek used to be known as Heliopolis, two thousand years ago, when it was the most important Greek, then Roman, city in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is still the most complete Roman city in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Byblos has been occupied for 7,000 years. The Cedars of God are over 1,500 years old. Tyre dates back to 3,000BC. Sidon is a former Silk Road trading post. Beirut is one of the oldest cities in the world. This is why people want to visit Lebanon. Our map shows the country on one side, with ample text blocks to entice the reader, and Beirut on the other side. Truly an amazing country!
