Fra ITM: This 5th edition of our London map has undergone an extensive revision, adding more hotels, pubs, and attractions. While it is not practical to show all such buildings on a map, we are hoping to achieve a representative sample. The ‘tube’ or underground lines have also been re-drawn and emphasized. Rail lines are shown from their appropriate rail station outwards. There is one north-south rail line through London, and an east-west line under construction, but we are leaving these off our map until the second line is completed. Also, the overground lines are an increasingly important method of travel around London, and these have been shown where appropriate. The big change on this map, and the reason for its new ISBN, is the enhanced and expanded map on the second side of South East England at 1:300,000 scale. This would be ideal for day trips out of London or for those driving. The western edge of the map is Bath and the northern extreme is either Northampton or Cambridge. The main roads in and out of London are shown, with motorways in blue, A roads in green (un-widened A roads in magenta) and thousands of B roads wend their way to lovely villages and secondary towns. Both sides of the map include our Top Attractions list. The map is printed on high density plastic paper, both for durability and for inclement weather.

The easternmost part of Canada is also its newest part and the oldest British colony. Generations before Jamestown was thought of for colonization, Newfoundland was a valued commercial entity of Britain. Before that, it was a Norse settlement and the only known Norse permanent settlement ever discovered in North America. Today, the province consists of two parts – the island of Newfoundland and the mainland entity called Labrador; hence, the joint name of the map. Side one is the island of Newfoundland, which can only be reached by air or by ship. Ferries operate from Nova Scotia to two destinations on the island, and there is a separate ferry from Quebec to the northern tip of the island. This side also includes the French Overseas Territory of St. Pierre et Miquelon and an inset of St. John’s, the provincial capital. Side 2 concentrates on Labrador, a much larger geographical entity. Most of Labrador is inaccessible for the average traveller, but the brand-new Trans-Labrador Highway has recently been paved and makes access much easier than even a few years ago. This paved highway can be accessed from Newfoundland by the ferry from St. Barbe to Alse, in Quebec. A paved highway leads east and then north to Happy Valley/Goose Bay and then westward to Labrador City, the only significant urban area in Labrador.

The climbing season for Everest begins in May, just about the time that vaccinations against Covid should kick into high gear. Time to start planning that little jaunt you’ve always wanted to do! Seriously, this is a lovely double-sided map with two attractive covers, so can be displayed either as Everest or Himalaya. The Everest side covers the mountain itself, with base camps and accommodations clearly shown. There are actually several interesting trails one could explore and all are shown; only one leads to the summit. The reverse side shows the entire Himalaya ‘knot’ that forms the basis for so many mountain chains.

The area of coverage includes all of Nepal and Sikkim, a significant portion of Bhutan, most of Tibet, and a bit of northern India. All roads and attractions are shown. The map includes a detailed inset map for Kathmandu and another for the valley region surrounding the city. There are now half a dozen access roads into Nepal, and all are shown. East-west travel is finally available with the completion of Hwy 1401. Fra ITM: The southern half of Mexico is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. It contains 90% of all resort destinations in Mexico, and includes the heartland of cultural and historic Mexico. Whether one wishes to visit Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende, or Taxco, the western half of the country offers marvelous opportunities for exploration. The eastern half, on the reverse side of the sheet, portrays the Yucatan Peninsula, with all its many Mayan cites, Cancun with its many resorts, and Belize. Northern Guatemala, with Tikal and a dozen other ancient sites, is also on the map.

California (south of Sacramento), Nevada, and Arizona are home to some fifty million residents and the location of many of the best-known travel destinations in the world. One just has to mention Hollywood, Disneyland, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Tucson, or Yosemite and realize that all of these wonderful places to see are on one map to realize why this map is so popular. The map itself, at a scale appropriate for the region, allows enough opportunities to meet the expectations of most visitors driving through Death Valley, Lake Tahoe, Joshua Tree National Park, Tombstone, or Route 66.

Fra ITM: The Central American country of Panama is actually and east-west country, not a north-south one as one might expect. Its historic claim to fame is two-fold. It was here that Spanish conquistadors first set eyes on the vast Pacific Ocean, and it is here that much of the world's commercial goods pass from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The Canal is extremely important, and a "must see" attraction, but the country offers much more. Santa Catalina is a world-class surfing destination. The Pearl Islands feature virgin forest and pristine beaches. Boquette, in the northern mountains, is the valley of the flowers. Panama City is a vibrant economic centre for shopping. In recent years, Panama has invested heavily in tourism. The roads are excellent, the people are friendly, the restaurants are excellent, and the country is peaceful. Who could ask for more?

Fra ITM: In this edition, we have combined Mauritania with Mali. Although both are interesting countries, the two fit naturally together as a unit, albeit at slightly differing scales. Technically, this should be a 1st edition map, as it is the first time we have combined these two desert countries on to one sheet, but I’ll let Robert at the Library of Congress worry about the niceties of bibliographic accuracy as soon as Trump allows him to do the work he loves for a salary. Mauritania was one of the most unusual countries I visited as a young traveller. Of course, I had an advantage, in that I was too young to know that what I was doing was supposed to be impossible. I entered from what was then the Spanish Sahara via a piste (a sandy track with multiple pathways, only some of which avoid soft sand), travelling with a young Bedouin man. In Zouerate, a mining camp, I had to tie my VW campervan onto a railway flatbed car, and endure hundreds of kilometres of a sand dune wasteland before reaching Choum, and a siding where I could off-load the vehicle. The track south to Nouakchott was covered with sand and treacherous. Nowadays, there is a paved road to the southern border of Morocco, and a good road all the way along the coast to Rosso, where a ferry can take one across to Senegal. Mali adjoins Mauritania, both being formerly part of French West Africa. The capital, Bamako, is an interesting town with quite a bit of colonial architecture still in place. East of there is Djenne, a ‘forbidden’ city for infidels when I was there (see cover photo), but a fascinating mud-brick city. Further east again is Mopti, a river port where camel caravans off-load tablets of salt mined still far in the Sahara for transport by boat to Dakar. Further east again is Timbuktu (or Tombouctou as it is now spelled), at one time the most exotic isolated destination known to mankind. Further south is the Bandiagara escarpment, a must-see living area for locals who have created a living space from the sheer walls of the cliff. Both countries are fascinating places to visit.

Skjærgårdskartet er et opplevelseskart for kystnære friluftsaktiviteter. Du finner informasjon om Kyststiene og Kystledhyttene, turmål, tilrettelagte områder for friluftsliv, teltplasser, servicetilbud og offentlig kommunikasjon i skjærgården. Kartet er ideelt for turgåing, sykling, padling, fiske, bading og dykking. Her finner du også båtutsettingsplasser. Kyststien er sammenhengende vandreruter som i hovedsak går i umiddelbar nærhet til sjøen, selv om den noen steder også kan være trukket lenger inn på land. Innenfor området som kartet dekker er det mange populære turveier og mål. Moutmarka og Hvasser på Tjøme, Bolærne øyene, øst- og Vesterøya i Sandefjord, Trælsodden utenfor Melsomvik og Grevestien i Tønsberg er alle anbefalte steder å vandre og oppleve kystlandskapet.

De merkede delene av kyststien er tegnet med heltrukken linje i kartet. Stiplet linje betyr at kyststien ikke er merket, men at det er et anbefalt eller naturlig sted å gå. FergerNøtterøy-VeierlandPassasjer- og sykkelfergen går fra Tenvik på Nøtterøy til øya Veierland i Tønsbergfjorden og anløper fergestedene Vestgården og Tangen. Sommerstid fortsetter fergen ved enkelte avganger til Engø. Veierland er en bilfri øy og særdeles egnet for spaserturer, sykkel-turer, badeliv osv. Tønsberg-Bolærne M/S Viksfjord går i sommerrute mellom Tønsberg og Bolærne fra mai til sep-tember. I høysesongen er det flere daglige avganger. For- og ettersesong kun i helgene.

Topo 750 Galdhøpiggen - Glittertinden er et detaljert kart som dekker over 750 km2. Her finner du både turstier og overnattingssteder som er tydelig merket i kartet. Kartet dekker Norges to høyeste fjelltopper, Galdhøpiggen og Glittertinden. Topptur til Galdhøpiggen er en fantastisk opplevelse med spektakulær utsikt over Jotunheimen.

Den populære turstien fra Spiterstulen er ganske enkel og tar deg med vestover opp til Svellnose via Kelihaus topp og videre opp til toppen av Galdhøpiggen. Turen til Glittertinden er kortere, men mer krevende. Kartet dekker ruten opp til toppen, over Glitterbrean, fra den betjente hytten Glitterheim som ligger ved foten av fjellet. Eksempel på hytter i kartet: Glitterheim(betjent).

Topo 3000 er et detaljert kart som dekker over 3000 km2. Sylan byr på variert urørt natur med gode fiskemuligheter og rikt dyreliv med milevis av fjellplatåer. I Sylan finnes 820 km vintermerkede ruter. 370 på norsk side og 450 på svensk side. Her finner du den populære turen “Trekanttur i Sylan - om Roltdalen og Storerikvollen”, en krevende 3-dagers tur på ca. 75 km.

Her finnes også STF Blåhammaren Fjällstation som er et godt utgangspunkt for flere dagsturer. Kartet viser skiløyper, hytter og turstier i Sverige.
Her finner du turer som: Skitur på Fonnefjellet 6,2 km, Grønnbekklia 10,4 km og Topptur til Storskarven 8,7 km.

Eksempel på hytter: Schulzhytta (betjent), Angeltjønnhytta og Ramsjøhytta (selvbetjente).

Nordeca Sørøya 1:50 000 er et turkart i den landsdekkende, nasjonale kartserien. Norge-serien benyttes blant annet av redningskorpsene. Kartet er utviklet med avansert kartteknologi og egner seg for turgåere, jegere og fiskere. Norge-serie kartene er svært populær for de som går lengre turer. Overlapp på alle kart gjør det enkelt å navigere mellom kartene. Kartet er i målestokk 1:50 000 og er trykket på et resirkulerbart materiale som er slitesterkt og værbestandig. Kartet kan benyttes i all slags vær.
